Though that may hold some truth, one could argue that Samsung's advancements in the mobile sphere this year go far beyond surface-level improvements. In reality, it is these deeper changes that may have a greater impact on one's daily use of their smartphone.

The government had discreetly instructed all Internet Service Providers (ISP) in Malaysia to redirect internet traffic via alternate DNS services such as Google and Cloudflare.

It has been found that several service providers in Malaysia utilised a Transparency DNS Proxy, resulting in internet users being blocked from accessing restricted websites via alternative DNS servers.

In the end, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) released a statement, confirming the DNS Redirection. It was implemented, they claimed, to improve internet management and safeguard user security. However, a number of months later, internet users voiced their frustration as legitimate websites were still inaccessible due to the persistent DNS redirection issue, fuelling apprehensions about internet freedom.

The implementation of DNS Redirection is being put on hold due to widespread concerns from the public and various stakeholders, who felt left out of the decision-making process.

Rumors have been circulating about Xiaomi's plans to launch an electric vehicle since 2021. The Asian tech giant allegedly invested US$10 billion to build its electric car production facilities. Notably, what took everyone by surprise was how fast these claims turned into tangible action.

The "SU7" name and its design made a first appearance in news reports in November 2023 when information about the electric vehicle was made public by Chinese authorities. Xiaomi subsequently unveiled the Xiaomi SU7 as its inaugural electric vehicle in December 2023, and it made its official market debut on 28th of March 2024. Within a mere 4 minutes when the booking applications for the Xiaomi SU7 were opened for sale, the orders reached 10,000. Shortly after, another 40,000 bookings were received in just 23 minutes.

The Xiaomi SU7 is not an ordinary electric vehicle. Able to reach 100km/h in just 2.78 seconds from standstill and topping out at 265km/h, the SU7 is a high-performance EV designed to rival the likes of the Porsche Taycan.

Producing cars isn't a straightforward task, and likewise, creating smartphones isn't a simple feat, yet Xiaomi has managed to develop an electric vehicle in a similar manner as they would any of their other smartphones.

We're proud to announce that U Mobile has been chosen to be the second telecommunications provider to operate a 5G network in Malaysia.

Malaysia has ultimately chosen U Mobile as the winner of the second 5G network concession. This decision was unexpected as U Mobile has fewer cell sites and subscribers compared to other competitors that submitted their bids.

Despite several uncertainties remaining, the regulator has confirmed that U Mobile has the option to team up with a major telecommunications company to bring the new 5G network online. Everyone is now looking at U Mobile to secure a powerful financial supporter to help fund the rollout of the 5G network.
