Running for friendship and community at annual reunion
The Penang Forward Sports Club continued its yearly tradition of hosting a reunion run during the festive season, with an event that took place last week at Padang Merbok in Kuala Lumpur.
The gathering gave members the opportunity to rekindle relationships, swap hellos, and fortify friendships within a festive and happy atmosphere.
The club was established in the 1970s by a group of energetic runners in Jelutong, a coastal fishing village in Penang. It was formally registered in 1986.
Over its years of development, it has evolved into a sustainable, multi-ethnic non-profit entity that is heavily involved in a wide range of activities, including sports and charitable projects that aim to contribute positively to the community.
The group consists of individuals from various walks of life, including students and professionals alike, all connected by their love for community and sporting activities.
The club has seen a significant increase in both its membership and activities over the past few years, welcoming members from all over Malaysia.
The success of last year's Kuala Lumpur Christmas Joy Run has been followed up with this year's event led again by Kuala Lumpur team captain, Sebastian Chin.
The chairman of the Club, Lim Choo Hooi, the treasurer, Quah Eng Soon, and the leader of the Penang team, Lee Chee Keong, left Penang to join in the celebrations and took part in the Christmas-morning run.
The gathering demonstrated the club's dedication to strengthening camaraderie and shared responsibility among its members, promoting the "forward unity" and compassion movement to the community at large.
