Malaysia welcomes record-breaking one million Indian tourists, celebrates travel partners
KUALA LUMPUR - Tourism Malaysia menghargai industri pelancongan India atas peranan mereka dalam mempromosikan destinasi, hasilnya hingga ke pangkalan penerimaan pelancong yang mencatat rekod baharu baru dari India.
Malaysia is now a leading holiday destination for outgoing Indian tourists, according to Datuk Muzafar Shah Mustafa, Malaysian High Commissioner to India.
Over a million Indian tourists have visited Malaysia this year, a testament to the strong bond and cooperation between Tourism Malaysia and the Indian tourism industry.
Malaysia has experienced a significant surge in tourist arrivals from India since the introduction of visa-free entry was initiated in December 2023.
Last year, Malaysia saw a total of 671,846 Indian tourists and has already exceeded a million visitors from this group between January and November this year.
Malaysia aims to attract more visitors from India as it readies its tourism promotional efforts in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 initiative next year.
According to Ahmad Johanif Mohd Ali, Director of Malaysia Tourism in India, the travel demand between India and Malaysia is being driven by robust aviation services and is steadily increasing.
He also expressed the aim of having at least 1.1 million Indian tourists arriving in Malaysia by 2025.
Five airlines, namely Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, IndiGo, AirAsia and Air India, operate 248 flights every week between India and Malaysia, with a total of around 47,000 available seats.
