PJ plant nurseries get notices to vacate by Dec 30, operators seek Selangor MB’s intervention

KUALA LUMPUR, December 25 - About 40 plant nursery operators in Petaling Jaya, Selangor are being instructed to vacate their premises by December 30.

reported today.

According to the news report, on December 3, officers from the Selangor Forestry Department (JPNS) personally delivered an eviction notice dated November 27, which was issued under the 1985 National Forestry Act.

The notice alleges that the operators have been unlawfully occupying forest reserve land, engaged in forestry and agricultural activities, as well as constructing buildings without obtaining the necessary approvals.

The operators claim they received a permission from JPNS as far back as 2006, however they have been unable to extend their permits since 2021.

“Selama tahun 2021, kami telah mencuba-cuba untuk mengemaskini lesen kami daripada JPNS tetapi kami diberitahu bahawa mereka tidak akan mengolah permohonan kami.”

One operator, Ah Seng, who has been involved in this issue for 18 years, expressed his worry over the possible financial losses.

“Without relocating, the investments in the land and businesses, which run into millions of ringgit, will be left idle."

A few operators have also made appeals on various occasions to Selangor State Executive Council Chairman Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and state authorities, requesting their intervention in the matter.

They are open to making rental payments if an agreement is established.
