Balan Kash reaches new milestone with his first Malay album

The album is a lively mix of pop and rap flavours, featuring five songs that capture the essence of creativity, culture and innovation, which once again demonstrates Balan Kash's diverse musical talents as a performer.

At a recent press conference to promote his album, Balan Kash explained his reason for embarking on a Malay-language project, stressing the significance of unity over racial divisions.

We should not let labels based on ethnic groups define us. What truly matters is that we are all Malaysians.

He explained that Cekap aims to bridge the gap in our society and foster a sense of unity among people.

I had a desire to break down these obstacles, construct bridges of unity and motivate the younger generation to adopt this spirit of togetherness and shared community.

Balan Kash expressed his gratitude to his mentors, including renowned artist Fazil Tahir, for their guidance in preparing his Malay album.

"I feel grateful to have such accomplished mentors looking over my shoulder, but at the same time, it's also a challenge to live up to their high standards set in their field," he said.

I must admit that it was quite challenging to bring this project to life, meeting all the high standards we aimed for, but I'm overjoyed that Cekap has been warmly welcomed and cherished.

Balan Kash has garnered widespread recognition for his music's extensive appeal across different cultures for over a decade in the Malaysian music scene. He is known for crafting diverse songs in Tamil and English.

In 2016, he gained international recognition for his collaboration with Indian music sensation Anirudh Ravichander in the hit song 'Hola Amigo', which collected over 2.3 million views on YouTube. - BERNAMA
