Malaysia Airlines’ A330neo back in action after 48-hour delay over faulty component

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 25 — Malaysia Airlines ’ new Airbus A330neo resumed flights with its maiden trip to Kuching, Sarawak, taking off from Kuala Lumpur on Christmas Eve.

The aircraft with registration 9M-MNG was initially grounded for 48 hours upon its return to Kuala Lumpur from Melbourne, Australia last Saturday.

Malaysia flight tracker FlightRadar24 reported that the Airbus A330neo-operated flight MH2528 to Kuching departed KLIA at 7.28pm on Christmas Eve, December 24, contrary to its originally scheduled A Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

Malaysia Airlines has cancelled its 21 December flight from Melbourne, citing technical problems with its A330neo aircraft.

The aircraft, which is fitted with Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, encountered technical issues on its maiden flight from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne on 19 December.

Airlineouse Group's CEO, Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, stated that the grounding was conducted to resolve three technical issues linked to manufacturing and delivery.

Datuk Izham Mohamed Sa Pom expressed his disappointment, emphasizing that safety is the top priority and demanding Airbus and Rolls-Royce to be accountable for the problems with the new aircraft.
